Welcome to the Solway Buzz community website, incorporating the digital archives of the Solway Buzz. This website is managed and hosted by Silloth-on-Solway Town Council (“the Council”) as a community asset to support local events, businesses, and historical preservation.
By using this website or submitting content to it, you agree to the following terms:
1. The Solway Buzz Historical Archive
This website proudly preserves a 25-year photographic and publication archive originally compiled by the Solway Buzz.
- The vast majority of historical photographs were captured by the publication’s editor and are reproduced here under a perpetual license granted to the Council.
- Where third-party photographers are known, they have been acknowledged in accordance with the original publication’s records.
- These archives are processed and maintained in the public interest for historical and archival purposes. If you are the copyright holder of an archival image, or if you appear in an archival photograph and wish to object to its continued digital publication, please see our Notice and Take-Down Policy below to request a correction or removal.
2. Intellectual Property & User Submissions
When you submit content to our noticeboard, directory, calendar, or galleries (including text, event details, and photographs), you guarantee that:
- You own the copyright to the material or have explicit permission from the copyright owner to publish it.
- You grant the Council a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, crop, and host the content on this website.
3. Liability and Accuracy While the Council endeavours to ensure the website is operational and secure, we accept no liability for:
- The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of user-submitted directory listings, calendar events, or noticeboard posts.
- Any temporary downtime or technical faults.
- The content of external websites linked from this directory.
Document Status & Governance:
Status: This policy framework is currently operational to mitigate immediate digital risk and manage live community submissions. It is scheduled for formal review and ratification by the Full Council at the next ordinary meeting on 6 July 2026.
